If you long for large, well-toned muscles, this guide is for you. No matter what shape your body is in right now, you can get a buff body with enough time and effort. There are a few main factors to getting ripped: diet, exercise, determination, and patience. If you can take control of all of these things, you will be able to build a muscular physique and gain the shape you desire.

Step 1: Eat Right

Yes, it sounds simple. Yet many people don't do it.

  1. Use an online calorie calculator to figure out your daily needs
  2. If you need to lose weight, consume fewer calories than you need
  3. If you need to gain, consume more calories than you need
  4. Make sure you eat enough calories to support your body
  5. Include protein, carbs, and produce into your diet
  6. Do not omit any major food groups -- your body needs them all to run at peak performance

Step 2: Hit the Gym

While it is possible to get buff at home, your best bet is to get a gym membership. Gyms have all the equipment you need to isolate specific muscle groups with a range of weights. If you are trying to trim down, make use of cardio equipment. Good exercises to build muscle are:

  2. Bench presses
  3. Crunches
  4. Donkey lifts
  5. Shoulder presses
  6. Curls
  7. Rowing
  8. Pull ups
  9. Dips

Step 3: Stay Motivated

The most important thing you can do to get buff is keep your motivation up. Anyone can get ripped with the right diet and exercise. The only people who are successful at it, though, are the ones who dedicate the time and effort into achieving the bodies of their dreams.

It will take at least a few months before you get the results that you picture in your head. Your muscle tone will improve after just a couple of weeks, but it takes much longer to lose/gain the desired weight, and take on an "ideal" form. Hang in there!
