Sims don't get pregnant in this first version of The Sims. Instead, right after sims have a good make-out type kiss, sometimes a baby cradle pops out and lands on the floor with a baby in it. The phone rings sometimes and asks the player if they want to adopt a baby. If the player clicks on yes, then the social worker brings over a baby cradle with a baby in it.

If the player has the The Sims Livin Large Expansion or The Sims Deluxe, then baby cradles can pop out after sims use the love bed to woohoo. There is even a free download for a buyable baby that stays a baby forever and doesn't grow into a child.http://www.woobsha.com/babies.html Part of this hack is that your sims will take care of this baby automaticially. Also, it is hacked so that the social worker will never take this baby away (even though the warning about the social worker will come up).

This is the first version of The Sims where a sim actually gets a pregnant belly and goes into labor before the baby comes. Sims can only get pregnant through woohoo in The Sims 2. It is possible to get a sim pregnant in the bed, in the hot tub, in a car, and in a changing room. Only adult female sims who are more than three days away from becoming elders can get pregnant through woohoo. Only playable sims can get pregnant. The player can be controlling the male sim at the time, but only female sims that the player is able to control can get pregnant. Here is how to get a sim pregnant in The Sims 2:

1. Get the two sims to love each other so that they will woohoo.
2. Make sure both sims are in good moods: not hungry, tired or having to use the toilet.
3. Get both sims to relax on the bed or sit in the hot tub or go into a car or a changing room.
4. Click on the sim that you are not controlling.
5. Click on the option Try for baby.
6. If there is no option Try for baby, then try the option Make out and see if Try for baby comes up after that. Make sure the two sims are both in love with each other. They won't get this option unless they are.http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Pregnancy

If the game sound is on loud enough and the sims were successful in their try for baby, then a lullaby will play. If the lullaby doesn't play, then the sims will have to keep doing the Try for baby option until it does. This is easy to do in the car because they don't fall asleep or get out after they woohoo in the car. It is rumored there are cheats to make teen sims pregnant in The Sims 2. Male sims can become pregnant in The Sims 2 if you can manage to get them abducted by aliens!

Sims 3 sims get pregnant the same way as Sims 2 sims (see section 2 on this Mahalo page). There are some big changes to the process of being pregnant in The Sims 3, though. In The Sims 3 without cheating it is possible to:

• choose traits for the baby once it is born
• choose which sex the baby will be
• choose to have twins, triplets, quadruplets, or even more.

1. To be able to choose the baby's traits when it is born, have a good pregnancy and read the pregnancy books. These books can be bought at the bookstore. To have a good pregnancy, avoid negative moodlets. Get plenty of sleep. Don't stand up too long. Eat often. Have lots of fun. If your sim can afford to buy the Moodlet Manager for 30,000 lifetime rewards points, it is well worth it in order to ensure a good pregnancy.
2. To choose which sex the baby will be, have the pregnant sim eat apples or watermelon. Eating three apples in a row will make the baby a boy. Eating three watermelons in a row will make the baby a girl. In the unpatched version of The Sims 3 eating foods prepared with apple or watermelon counted toward this, but they don't after the game gets patch 1.3 by being online at game launch.http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Pregnancy
