One way to get yourself noticed is to smell great. Of course part of smelling great is good grooming, but a great smelling fragrance can really turn some heads. However, it is really easy to go overboard with perfume or cologne. Too much perfume or cologne is distracting to the people around you, and downright annoying to people who are sensitive to scents. If you've found someone interesting to flirt with, you want that person to notice you, and your scent should be an accent, not overpowering.
This guide will help keep you from over doing it with cologne or perfume when you are ready to flirt.

Step 1: Good Grooming Techniques
Start with great grooming practices to avoid any bad scents your body may want to produce. Use unscented body wash products in the shower and unscented deodorant after you shower so scents from those products don't clash with your cologne or perfume. Ask your friends for some honest feedback about how you normally smell, and work on any issues you may have with body odor or bad breath.
Step 2: Choose the Right Perfume or Cologne
Choose the right scent for you. There are so many varieties of colognes and perfumes available, and the same scent may work differently with different people's body chemistries. Take advantage of samples or testers at the perfume counter to test out scents and see how they work for you. Spray or dab a small amount of perfume or cologne on the inside of your wrist. Don't sniff it immediately; the initial scent will change, and it won't be what people around you smell. Walk around for 10 to 15 minutes and then take a sniff. You need to choose a scent that you'll enjoy so you feel comfortable wearing it. Be sure to clean away one scent before trying a new one so your nose doesn't get confused.
Step 3: Apply the Right Amount of Perfume or Cologne
Applying the right amount of perfume or cologne can be tricky, but the best rule to follow is that less is more. You can easily add more scent if you want too, but once you put on too much, it's difficult to remove. Also, keep in mind that you will get used to your own scent, so even if you think you can't smell you perfume or cologne, others around you can smell it. If you are using a spray bottle, one or two spritzes should be more than enough to distribute enough scent onto your body. Spray two different parts of your body, such ah your neck and back, or chest and legs.
If you are using a product without a spray, be very careful with the amount of perfume or cologne you dispense; again, less is more. Test out a new perfume or cologne then ask others for their opinion. When you flirt with others, you want them to notice you, not be overwhelmed and distracted by how you smell.
