How To Find Friends On Twitter

Twitter is a social networking site that helps keep you connected to the world, businesses, groups, and friends. And with new people joining Twitter each day, you may need to routinely search to find out which of your friends have established a Twitter feed and started tweeting. Searching for friends on Twitter is easy and takes only a few seconds. You will have the option of searching all of Twitter, or searching your email address books in order to find friends. And for those buddies who are not yet signed up for Twitter, there is an easy way to send them a quick invitation.

The steps below on this page will walk you through the process of finding friends, no matter which of the options you choose. To get started, you will need to have a valid an active Twitter account. Some people who you would like to follow may have their profile privacy settings set so that you will need their express approval before you can follow them.

Step 1: Search for Friends By Name

On the right-hand side of your Twitter page, there is a search bar. Simply type in the name(s) of the friend(s) you are looking for, and several suggestions for close matches to your search will appear. This is a handy search especially if you are looking for very well-known or popular people.

Or you can click the “Find People” button in the Twitter menu bar at the top of the page. From there you will be guided to a menu of different search options for finding friends and businesses. Under the “Find on Twitter” tab, just type in a friend’s name and find out instantly if that person is on Twitter.

Step 2: Search Your Email Address Book for Twitter Users.

Once you click “Find People” from the top right corner of your Twitter page, you can then access the “Find Friends” tab. Just complete your email information and submit in order for Twitter to scan your email address book and find friends who are already on Twitter. If you have friends who have not yet signed up, you will be given the option to send them an invitation.

Step 3: Invite Friends to Join

On the “Find People” page, you have the option to click the “Invite By Email” tab as a means of recruiting friends who may need a nudge to join the Twitter social network. There is no incentive for recruiting friends to join, aside from the benefits of adding them to your feed and keeping in touch.
