Finding a Lost Android Phone
If you lose your Android phone, you have several options for locating it or wiping out its information.
Applications:
1. If you want to plan ahead, you can install Lookout Mobile Security for free from the Android Market. This application will allow you to track and protect your phone if you lose it. However, it only works if you have the application installed before you lose your phone.
2. If you don't have an application installed before you lose your phone, you can use Plan B for free on the Android Market. This application allows you to locate your phone via the internet and send out a siren so you can find it. It works best if your phone's GPS is turned on; otherwise if will only provide the approximate cell tower location.
Carrier Plans: Some phone carriers have plans that will allow you to remotely find and wipe your phone. Contact your carrier for details.
Manufacturer Options: Some phone manufacturers, such as Motorola and HTC, have special features that let you log into their website, locate your phone and remotely wipe out its information.
