Mahalo's third app, "How to Draw!" just hit the iTunes store! This kid-friendly app uses the world of "SpongeBob SquarePants" as a setting for teaching basic and intermediate drawing techniques. It also includes sections on drawing Halloween-themed characters like Jack and Sally from "The Nightmare Before Christmas." At only $4.99, it's a great, inexpensive way to help your child's creativity blossom.
Along with tutorials on basic drawing techniques, the course features guides to drawing popular characters, expressions, backgrounds and scenes. In the two Halloween chapters, you'll learn how to sketch, shade and ink bats, skulls and even characters in costume! We're also planning on releasing new art lessons on a monthly basis, so look for updates with characters from Super Mario Bros and "The Lion King"!
Clocking in at just over nine hours, this app features some of Mahalo's most in-depth and comprehensive videos to date. Instead of the typical sped-up drawing videos, each of these 47 videos shows the entire process in real time. And Ken's lessons aren't limited to pencils and paper. He uses pens, markers, goodie bags, pastels and a digital art program called ArtRage. This extremely versatile program re-creates the experience of using real art tools.
The more feedback we get, the more improvements you'll see in future Mahalo apps, so let us know what you think! Have you or your kids tried this one yet? Then email us at requests@mahalo.com!
