Mahalo art and animation expert Ken O'Brien shows you how to draw Professor Utonium from "The Powerpuff Girls."
Step 1: The Body
- Draw a large rectangle for the body.
- Draw a small rectangle about half a head from the shoulder.
- Draw the line of action down the middle of the body.
- Draw another line of action down the face to determine what direction he's looking.
- Draw rectangles for Professor Utonium's arms. Each arm comprises two overlapping rectangles.
- Draw a triangle through the line of action.
- Draw a triangle above the triangle in the second step.
Step 2: The Face
- Draw Professor Utonium's eyes on both sides of the facial line of action. Each eye resembles a lowercase "n."
- Using the facial line of action as a guide, draw his eyebrows.
- Using the facial line of action as a guide, draw his nose.
- To draw Professor Utonium's hair, draw two triangles on his face.

Meet Our Expert

Ken O'Brien
Ken studied at Cal Arts with a double major in art and animation, and later worked in the video game industry as a level designer for companies like WayForward Games and Activision, where his credits include Jake Long the American Dragon and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, among others. O’Brien is a longtime Apple guru, working as a personal instructor of Apple software and products after his career in video games. In 2010 O’Brien started his own art blog, LunchBagDad, which features hand-drawn and painted lunch bags he initially created for his daughters.
