Introduction

Anyone can learn to draw, as long as the proper techniques are developed and enough practice is put into the endeavor. Your work may will probably not be up to the standards of professional artists right away, but in time you will get better and better at drawing.
Step 1: Purchase Materials

If you are serious about drawing, there are tools that will help your pictures look their best. To get started, head for an arts and crafts store and buy a sketch pad, pencils in a variety of shades, charcoals, pastels, a chamois, and a good eraser.
Step 2: Study Your Subjects
Drawing is as much about observation as it is making marks on a page. Choose a subject to draw, and look at it closely. How is it put together? How deep or shallow are the curves? Where is the light coming from, and where are the shadows being cast?
- For an exercise, try drawing something without looking down at the paper at at all. Keep your eyes fixed on the subject, so you cannot help but notice all of the details.
Practice

The more you draw, the better you will become. Keep at it, and don't give up if your pictures don't look perfect right away. If possible, carry a pencil and notebook with you throughout the day, so that you can start drawing whenever you see something that catches your eye.
