You grasp the barbell with an outer grip rather than an inner grip, meaning that the backs of your hands are facing up. Simply lock your arms and raise the barbell up to shoulder height. Step 1: Stance and Grip
The front deltoid raise is performed while standing up. To start, grip the barbell with the backs of your hands facing up.
