Decorate a Gingerbread House
This video demonstrates how to decorate a gingerbread house using white frosting and an assortment of candies. The girl in the video creates windows and doors with the white frosting, and adds gumdrops to the roof and white frosting snow to the gingerbread house.
Step 1: What You Will Need
- Gumdrops
- Candy canes
- Peppermints (green and red)
- Frosting
- Pastry bag decorator with a round or rosette tip
- Food coloring for the frosting
- Marshmallows
- Candy sprinkles
- Red hots
Step 2: Decorate a Gingerbread House
- Make the icing or use a container of icing from the grocery store.
- Use the food coloring to make different colored icing
- Put the icing in the pastry bag, and put on the round tip.
- Use a lot of icing, as it will help 'glue' the gingerbread house together. Use it as soon as you make it, as the icing will start to become hard.
- Start with white icing, outlining your gingerbread house, painting snow around the gingerbread house and on the roof.
- Make windows and doors on the gingerbread house, using whatever colors you want.
- Using the icing, add red and green gumdrops on the pointy top of the roof.
- Add the green and red peppermints to the flat part of the roof by putting frosting on the back of the candy and securing it on. #Outline the candy in a different color frosting.
- Use frosting on three marshmallows, creating a snowman, and secure it at the front of the gingerbread house.
Continue decorating the house however you want, using different candies and frosting colors however you want.

- Purchase a pre-assembled gingerbread house kit, which will include the makings for the actual house and what you will need for decorating. You can also buy kits for decorating only.
- Use a variety of different types of Christmas candies. Add chocolate candies to the front yard of the house and decorate them with different color frosting.
