Mahalo's cooking expert Scott Aaronson shows you how to use your mandoline slicer to crinkle cut a potato.
What You'll Need
- Potato
- Mandoline
- Cutting Board
Step 1: Prepare the Potato
- Peel the potato (optional).
- Cut the potato in half so that you can work with smaller pieces.
- Put the potato into the prongs of the hand guard. If you don't have a guard, use a mitt or glove to protect your hand from the blade.
Step 2: Prepare the Mandoline
Choose the setting for the desired thickness of the cut. Generally, crinkle cut potato slices should be between 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch thick.
- Take out the blade and turn it around so that the ridged section is at the top.
- Set up your mandoline so it's standing at the correct angle.
Step 3: Cut the Potato
Place the hand guard and potato at the top of the mandoline's body.
- Push the guard downwards with steady force.
- Your mandoline will produce even, crinkle cut slices.
