Once you have created an account and started your own blog using WordPress, you will need to know how to create a blog post in WordPress. Updating your blog with new posts is the most important part of having a blog. You will have a hard time gathering visitors without new and interesting content. Creating a blog post in WordPress is very easy and takes very little time at all. You simply need to login to your account, access the Dashboard, create your blog post, and publish it to your blog. Everything that you update or change on your WordPress blog is done through the Dashboard, including publishing new blog posts. The Dashboard is your center for everything blog related. To access your Dashboard you will need to login with your WordPress username and password. Once you have accessed your Dashboard you will be able to see all of your editing and publishing options. To create a blog post you will want to click on the Add New link under Posts on the left-hand bar of the Dashboard. Once you have clicked on and accessed a new blog post it is time to begin writing it. On this page of the Dashboard you will be able to write your post, include any extra content, like videos or photos, edit the look of the post, preview it, and publish it.

First you should enter a title for your blog post in the first dialog box. This can be whatever you want your post to appear as. Below that is a large dialog box for the body of your post. This is where you will type all of the content that you want to publish. You can change the font and lettering here. You can also post links, code, etc. here. Switching to the HTML dialog box will allow you to manually paste or write HTML coding. Switching back to Visual will allow you to preview any HTML that you may have added. You can also enter an excerpt in the next dialog box down. This will be a shorter version that you want your visitors to see before they access your entire blog post.

There are a ton of different options on this page for editing and controlling your new blog post. You can add tags to your post here or categorize your blog post. After you have written your blog post it is time to publish it. You can first preview your post by clicking the Preview button on the right-hand side of the Dashboard. This will show you what your post will look like. You can also save a draft of your post if you need to come back to it later by clicking the Save Draft button.

You can choose the visibility of your blog post before you publish. You can choose between public (seen by everyone), password protected, or private. Once you have chosen your visibility setting you can either publish your blog post right away or choose a date and time to publish it in the future.
