Traditional Cooking Method

The first thing to do is find the largest pot you have, put it on the stove and add approximately 2 to 3 inches of water. Set on high and bring the pot of water to a boil, then add in your Snow Crab, sprinkle sea salt or kosher salt over all of the crab, probably 3 to 4 pinches should be fine. Replace the lid to your pot and bring back to a rolling boil. Let the crab cook and steam for approximately 10 to 12 minutes until bright red and then it is done.

Actually the crab will already be flashed cooked and frozen from the crab processors, so all we are really doing is heating the crab thoroughly. Be sure not to over cook, which will eventually dry up all of the moisture from the meat in the legs.

Now this is the basic way many people cook the crab legs. From this point you can experiment with different spices, ingredients, enhancements, palette and taste variations. Experiment with adding spices such as Zatarain's Liquid Crab Boil, and Old Bay Seasoning to give it an extra kick.

Also be sure and melt some butter in a small dish for dipping the crab leg meat. This is simply delicious.
