Barbecue is traditionally cooked for a very long time, sometimes several hours, over an indirect source of heat. The barbecue flavor is generally a combination of spices, meat juices, and smoke. The term barbecue is derived from the word "barbacoa", which refers to the process of slow cooking meat on a wooden platform. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1908513,00.html

Step 1:Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin the process of preparing your pork baby-back ribs, you will first need to gather the following supplies and ingredients:

Supplies:

  1. A baking sheet
  2. Three small bowls
  3. A set of tongs
  4. A knife
  5. A basting brush

Ingredients:

  1. Rack of pork baby-back ribs
  2. Dried thyme
  3. Dried sage
  4. Salt
  5. BBQ sauce of your choicehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZzzJRjwk4Q

Step 2: Season the Ribs

Put equal parts dried sage and dried thyme into a bowl and mix. Add a pinch of salt to your herb mixture. Arrange your pork baby-back ribs onto a baking sheet. Generously sprinkle your prepared seasoning mixture onto the ribs and use your hands to rub the mixture into the meat. Flip your ribs and season the back side of the ribs the same way. Place the seasoned ribs into your refrigerator for 1-12 hours.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZzzJRjwk4Q

Step 3:Cook and Prepare Your Ribs

Take your ribs out of the refrigerator and set them somewhere to sit at room temperature for about 45 minutes. Preheat your oven to a temperature of 325° Place your ribs in the oven for approximately 20 minutes. Remove the ribs from the oven and use your tongs to flip the meat. Place the ribs back in the oven for another 15-20 minutes to finish cooking.

If you would like to baste with BBQ sauce, this should be done about 10 minutes before the ribs are finished cooking.

Once your ribs are fully cooked, cover them with aluminum foil to keep warm and allow them to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Your ribs are now ready to be sliced and served.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZzzJRjwk4Q
