Although there are numerous combinations of braising liquids, herbs and spices to flavor the meat, following is a basic recipe to cook delicious shanks, along with alternate methods if you don't want to braise on the stovetop.
Braising
- What You'll Need
- 4 lamb shanks
- 4 cups braising liquid (see recipe for suggestions)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cups chopped vegetables (like celery, carrots, mushrooms and onion)
- 5 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons chopped thyme
- Dutch oven or oven-safe pot

- What to Do
