Scale a Fish
1. Grab your fish by the tail, using a paper towel to grip it.
2. Holding the fish over the sink, use the dull side of your butter knife to scrape away the scales from tail to head.
3. Flip the fish over and repeat step 2.
4. If you touch the fish and cannot feel any stubble along its body, you are finished.
5. Rinse the fish and use your paper towel to dry.c

Always wipe your fish from head to tail when drying in order to avoid any spines that might be on the fins.c
