One of Mahalo's expert chefs, Eric Crowley shows you how to clean your knives safely and thoroughly.
What You'll Need
Warm, soapy water
Sponge, preferably one with a scrubber on one side
Dish towel
Washing Your Knife
- Always keep in mind the blade of you knife, and keep the end pointing away from you at all times.
- After soaking the sponge in the warm, soapy water, wrap the sponge around the back of the knife and wipe towards the edge so that you don't cut yourself.
- If there are any bits of food that are tougher to remove, use the scrubber part of the sponge.
- Rinse your knife thoroughly before you start to cut food again.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb67aR3Im18
Drying Your Knife
- To dry your knife, hold the handle with one hand and wrap the dish towel around the back of the knife with the other hand and wipe towards the end of the knife.
- You can also scrunch the towel at the edge of the counter and run the blade over the towel.
- Never wrap the towel around the blade side of your knife, which will increase the chance of cutting your hand.
- Be sure to wipe off the handle of your knife, too, so that it doesn't slip out of your hand.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb67aR3Im18
