In this video, Mahalo Chef Eric Crowley shows you how to make templates with parchment paper.
What You'll Need
- Parchment paper
- Pen
- Scissors
- Knife
- Ramekin or other small dish
Step 1: Fit the Parchment Paper to Your Dish
First, take a piece of rectangle-shaped piece of parchment paper and fold it into quarters. Fold the parchment paper into a fine point. Take the mold and align the tip of the paper to the center of the dessert mold for measurement. Once you've measured and you know where the edge of your paper should be, cut the paper using a sharp pair of scissors or a knife.
Step 2: Make a Heart Template
For heart-designed templates, take a round piece of paper and fold it in half. Using a pen, draw half a heart with the center on the fold you just made. Starting midway between the center of the paper and the outer edge then come on straight down towards the center of the other side. Cut on the outside of the ink line to avoid contaminating your food with ink.
Step 3: Make a Diamond Design
For a diamond-designed template, take a rectangular-shaped parchment and fold it into quarters. Fold the paper into a fine point. Measure against the mold and cut, as in the first step. Make a series of small, diagonal cuts along the folded edges of the parchment paper that meet in the middle to form a triangle. Don’t push too hard. You want to avoid cutting the tip. Open up the paper and make another set of cuts on both sides. Make random cuts if desired.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6eY8ZmJ1kI
