How to Make Blackberry Pie

What You'll Need

Ingredients

  • 4 cups blackberries
  • 1 cup and 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 pie crusts, unbaked
Equipment
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon
  • Pie tin

  1. Preheat your oven to 425° F (218° C).
  2. Put the blackberries into a large bowl.
  3. Add the flour, salt and one cup of sugar. Reserve the other quarter of a teaspoon of sugar for later. Mix ingredients together.
  4. Be careful not to crush the fruit. Pick the blackberries up from the bottom of the bowl, folding them into the other ingredients. Add the lemon juice.

  1. Put the fruit filling into the bottom pie crust.
  2. Chop the butter into medium-sized pieces and arrange the pieces on top of the pie filling.
  3. Place the top crust onto the pie. Fold the edges of both crusts under and pinch them together. Use your fingers to apply a decorative edge to the pie.
  4. Vent the pie by cutting slits into the top crust.
  5. Brush the milk evenly on top of the pie. Then sprinkle on the reserved sugar.
  6. Bake the blackberry pie for 30 to 40 minutes. Let the pie cool before serving.
