Step 1: Before Starting
Microfiber is very durable and able to repel water and this makes it perfect for furniture. Water Safe Cleaning
Items Needed; Vacuum with soft brush attachment A gentle soap (ex Dove or Woolite) A natural sponge or terry cloth towel Cold Water Hair Dryer Soft bristle brush
Process
- Use soft brush attachment to vacuum up dust and loose debris.
- Mix cold water with a few drops of soap.
- Dampen sponge or terry cloth towel and wring it out thoroughly. Avoid using towels or sponges that are dyed as it may run onto the fabric.
- Gently wash one section at a time, making sure towel or sponge is only slightly damp.
- When one section is done immediately dry with hair dryer on lowest setting.
- Once area is dry brush lightly to restore the texture.
Non-water Safe Cleaning
Items Needed; A gentle dry detergent (ex. Ivory Soap) Soft bristle brush Vacuum with soft brush attachment
Process
- Use soft brush attachment to vacuum up dust and loose debris.
- Sprinkle a small amount of dry detergent onto the section to be cleaned. Work one section a a time.
- With the soft bristle brush gently brush the detergent into the fabric.

Step 3: Stain Removal
When removing a stain from microfiber fabrics there are a few different techniques that can be tried. As always, test a small hidden spot first before hand.
- Lightly spray the stain with an aerosol can of original Lysol and then blot with a clean cloth.
- Use a baby wipe to gently blot the stain. Be careful not to rub as this could make the stain worse.
- Grease stains can be cleaned with Dawn dish soap. It should be rinsed well after stain is removed.
- A thick paste of baking soda and water applied to the stain will work. Let it sit a few minutes and then wipe clean.
- Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft terry cloth towel and gently blot the stain.
To help prevent stains always clean liquid spills immediately. Try to vacuum microfiber furniture at least once a week so that all crumbs and other matter that may cause stains are removed. Even with water tolerant furniture use a hair dryer to dry any wet areas before water marks appear. Do not use anything containing acetone, such as nail polis remover, or bleach on microfiber as it will damage or cause discoloration.
