Step 1:
Go to your home screen on the iPad and find the icon labeled settings. Click this icon. This will take you to the settings screen.

On the left hand side of the screen there will be a list of options. Click the option labeled "general". This will take you to a screen that has a series of icons. Locate and click the icon for sounds. This will take you to the page to change the sounds.
Step 3:
The volume bar will be located on the top of the screen. It can be adjusted by sliding your finger along the bar. You can also click the buttons to turn on or off the different sounds for different notifications. Every time you turn one on, it will give a preview as to what that sound is. The sounds can be turned off on this screen as well.
