How to Burn Disk Images in Windows 7 Video
This video posted on YouTube in July 2010 by Mahalo.com presents Morgan Mendieta providing a quick tutorial on how to burn disk images on computers using the Windows 7 operating system.
Step 1: Prepare Your Computer to Burn a Disk Image
Obtain a blank DVD media disk and close any open programs or files on your computer. Preferably, the disk will be new and unused to minimize potential errors. While you can keep programs and files open, it is easier to start with a clean desktop and reduce any program overhead while burning your disk image.
Step 2: Locate the Disk Image File
Track down your computer's most recent image file. These files end with the extension .ISO, so you can search your computer for this extension if you are unfamiliar with your backup system's storage location. These files are generally created from an automated backup program that can run on a set schedule. To increase the image accuracy to your current computer files, settings and information, consider manually running your backup program to create a fresh computer image file.
Step 3: Burn The Disk Image
Once you have located your most recent computer image, right click on the file name and select the "Burn disk image" option from the drop-down menu. The "Windows Disc Image Burner" window will appear. Select the burner drive that contains your blank media and click the "Verify disk after burning" box. This box will allow the program to run a quick diagnostic on your burned disk to ensure no problems occurred during the image transfer. Click the "Burn" button and your computer image will be transferred. Be sure to label your disk with the image file name and date for future reference.
