Step 1: Prepare

  • To build a sandcastle, you need to make sure that you have some essential items.
  1. Buckets in a variety of sizes
  2. Shovels
  3. A small spade
  4. Sunscreen so you don't get burned while building
  5. Creativity

Step 2: Go to the Beach

  • After you have the items needed to build your sandcastle, you should head to the beach.
  1. Find a place on the beach near the water, but out of reach of the waves.
  2. Try to find an area that is not super-populated so you have room to build.

Step 3: Create Your Sandcastle

  • After you have the perfect location, you are ready to start creating your sandcastle!
  1. Wet sand is best to build with. You can either fill a bucket with water and then wet the sand around you, or you can dig down into the sand until you reach the water table where you will find large amounts of wet sand.
  2. Smooth a patch of wet sand over the area where you are going to build your castle.
  3. Fill your largest bucket with wet sand, then carefully turn it upside down to create your first tower. Carefully lift the bucket off the sand, jiggling it, as pounding or pushing the sound will cause it to crumble.
  4. You can use smaller buckets to create smaller towers.
  5. Castle walls can be created by shaping wet sand into brick shapes and laying them on top of each other.
  6. Use your spade to make shapes in your towers and walls, as well as smooth out any uneven areas.
  7. You can add decorations such as seashells or seaweed to your castle if you like, as well as add touches like a moat.

Conclusion

  • After you have built your sandcastle, be sure to take some pictures of your masterpiece. Then sit back and enjoy!
