Having a Facebook page gives you the ability to connect with friends, reach out to folks you may not have seen in a long time and even become friends with people you don’t know who share the same interests. This may occur when you play some of the games that are available on Facebook such as Mafia Wars.

Mafia Wars is a casual game where players invite Facebook friends to join their Mafia Family and then they can do jobs, fight other players, declare war and more. However, as some of your facebook friends play the game, each time they level up, win a war, give somebody a gift or even earn a minor achievement, that information can get posted on your home page.

So, what do you do if you keep getting newsfeeds that announce Mafia Wars content that doesn’t interest you? Well, fortunately, there are ways to learn how to block ‘’Mafia Wars’’ on Facebook so you are not bombarded each event within the game.

You may play the game yourself and might be selective in what you post on the home page out of respect for your Facebook friends who don’t play the game. However, there could be some friends who manage to post every single thing they do in the game. This clutters up your home page and makes it hard to see posts by other non-players - or anybody actually!! You might only want to hide select individuals so your home page isn’t cluttered up with their stuff. To do so, simply find a post by said player (shouldn’t be too hard to do, right?) Once you do, scroll your mouse near the upper-right hand corner of their post. The word “Hide” will appear in bold and click that. You will be given two choices - either to hide that player or to cancel (just in case you click it accidentally.) Hide that player and you won’t be bothered by their annoying posts any more.

If you don’t want to go through the process of hiding friends or you want to see what they’re doing except when it comes to the Mafia Wars game, you can hide all Mafia Wars related posts without removing the application entirely.

When you receive a notification from Mafia Wars which comes in the box on the lower right corner of your screen when you login, just click in the upper right hand corner of the notification. You will be asked whether you want to hide all Mafia Wars information. Once you agree, you won’t receive any notifications; however you can still access the application and play the game yourself.

If you don’t want to play the game any longer and you wish to block Mafia Wars from your Facebook account, you have two options. You can either remove the application from the profile pagehttp://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#/apps/application.php?id=10979261223 by choosing the block Mafia Wars option on the left hand side. Or you can choose “applications” from the bottom left side of your screen and choose “edit options”. Next to Mafia Wars you will see an ‘x’. Clicking on the ‘x’ will allow you to block the application entirely.
