Following the dismal season that the St. Louis Browns had in 1953, the baseball team was moved to Baltimore where they became the Baltimore Orioles. Coincidentally, the professional football team, the Baltimore Ravens were established after the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore. During the Orioles' first season, more than a million people attended the games. The Orioles had found a home. The Orioles began playing at Camden Yards in 1992. Camden Yards was previously a railroad center before becoming a stadium built specifically for baseball. What is now center field at Oriole Park formerly was the site of the family home of baseball legend, Babe Ruth.http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/bal/ballpark/history.jsp
For the 2009 season, 78 men and women came out to field balls in hope of capturing a place as a foul ball catcher. The youngest was 18 years old and the oldest was 51, a woman from Westminster who had played baseball all of her life, and tried out for the Colorado Silver Bullets, an all-female professional baseball team. Wouldn't you love to walk on the same ground on which the "Babe" walked, and all the while cheering on your Baltimore Orioles and have the best seats in the house? Then you may want to try out as a ball boy or girl.http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2009-03-08/news/0903070098_1_orioles-ball-gi rls-ball-boys/2
