Do you want to sweep that special someone off of their feet, but aren't sure where to begin? Storybook romance does not always come naturally, but fortunately it may be learned. Read on to find out how to be romantic.
Does your significant other complain that you are not romantic enough? Or are you trying to woo someone that you are very interested in, and want to dazzle them with romance? Romantic gestures can make women swoon, and men feel cherished. If you want to demonstrate your affection and capacity for romance, try some of the tips below.
Step 1: Use the Element of Surprise
Nothing screams "romance" like a surprise date or trip. If you can afford it, an unexpected cruise or beach getaway is a romantic surprise that just about anyone will appreciate. Planning a lavish, out-of-the-blue vacation is undeniably romantic, and should ignite some serious sparks.
- If you are on a budget or restricted for time, not to worry. A surprise dinner, concert or show can be very romantic, as well. The element of surprise is what matters most here, as it shows that you were thinking of the other person and how to make them happy when they weren't around.
- Of course, you should take time to check schedules to avoid conflicts, and be sure that the other party will enjoy whichever activity you are planning. There is nothing romantic about missing an important meeting, or being dragged to a steakhouse if you don't eat meat.
Step 2: Set up A Romantic Evening at Home
There is no need to go out to be romantic. Some of the most romantic evenings of all take place at home, where there are no distractions and things can move into the bedroom at any time.
- Set up the scene while your lover is away. Choose music, buy or pick flowers, and break out the nice tableware. Cook their favorite meal if you know your way around the kitchen, or get take-out if you prefer. Turn off the cell phone, uncork a nice bottle of wine, and treat your lover to a night of your undivided attention.
Step 3: Pay Attention to the Small Things
Being romantic does not require a big production. In fact, the smaller gestures can have much more meaning. Little things like remembering your lover's favorite flavor of ice cream and showing up with a pint can mean a lot. Try leaving sticky notes on the pillow with affectionate words. Offer to run errands when you know your partner is feeling tired, or provide a soothing massage after a rough day. These sorts of acts are very romantic, and will help solidify your bond.
