The heart-warming reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition spotlights extraordinary families who have faced adversity and how their homes have suffered as a result. To find these unique and inspiring families, producers ask those interested to complete an application and send in a video.
Step 1: Know the Requirements
As mush as there are millions of families who could use help with their homes, only those with compelling stories and situations can appear on the show.
- Families must live in a house, no apartments or other situations are accepted
- Families must be able to leave their home for seven days at a moments notice
- Family members must submit to background checks
- Family members must be willing to provide tax records from the past three years on request
Step 2: Complete the Application
To get to know the unique families that are in need of help, producers ask each family to complete a lengthy application as the first step of the casting process.
