Marijuana brownies are a popular form of smoke-free marijuana consumption. 

First popularized in the 1968 film I Love You, Alice B. Toklas, marijuana brownies provide an alternate method to ingest cannabis and experience its psychoactive effects. Depending on their preference, some people choose to eat marijuana rather than smoke it, as it is not harmful to the lungs and offers prolonged effects. Ingesting marijuana provides a different type of "high" than the traditional smoking method. First of all, users will need to wait at least 20 to 60 minutes or so before beginning to feel the effects of the drug. Furthermore, the euphoric state lasts substantially longer with edibles such as pot brownies, and may not subside for up to six hours, or occasionally even more.

Before you start baking, be sure to have all of the necessary ingredients available. The most convenient method to baking brownies is to use a store bought mix. In this case, the ingredients you'll need are on the back of the package. Most commonly, these are eggs, oil, and water. If you preferred, you could bake brownies from scratch using a recipe similar to the one outlined on this page.

You'll need a cake pan for baking. Whenever possible use a pan that is glass or nonstick. Brownies are different in texture, and will stick to a traditional metal pan.

The last ingredient you'll need, is the marijuana. This should be finely chopped or in the form of Pot Butter.

• While making brownies is a fairly simple process, the addition of marijuana requires a littel more preparation. There are several methods to adding marijuana to the brownies. Here are a few tips for preparing marijuana for baking.

1. Although the simplest way to make marijuana brownies is to mix the finely ground marijuana into the brownie mix, making marijuana oil or butter (see How to Make Pot Butter) can ensure a smoother texture for your brownies. It also produces a more potent brownie.
2. Use a coffee grinder to get a nice, fine consistency
3. Use an electric mixer to make sure the marijuana is distributed evenly.
4. Eat with caution, as the brownies need to be digested before you feel the effects of the THC. It may be an hour or even two before you begin to feel the marijuana.

Ingredients:

• 8 ounces (one stick) of melted butter
• 1 cup light brown sugar
• 3/4 cup white sugar
• 1 cup cocoa (powdered)
• 1/2 cup flour
• 3 eggs
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• 1/4-1/2 cup finely ground marijuana buds or shake

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Butter or oil an 8"x8" or 9"x9" baking dish
3. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs with a wooden spoon until fluffy
4. Add the other ingredients, and stir until mixed
5. Pour brownie batter into your baking dish
6. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean
