How to Bake Acorn Squash

Ingredients and Equipment Needed

  • 1 acorn squash, cut in half
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Foil-covered baking sheet

Instructions

1. Preheat oven at 400ºF.

2. Scoop out the seeds from inside of the squash. You can either dispose of them or keep them for later to season and toast them for a tasty snack.

3. Rub the inside and top of both halves with butter. 

4. Sprinkle brown sugar inside both halves.

5. Score both halves by using a sharp knife and cutting lines both vertically and horizontally. Be sure no to cut too deep or pierce the skin. 

6. Place squash on a baking sheet in the center of oven. Bake for one hour.

7. After one hour, pierce the squash with a fork to check if they are done. The squash should be tender and golden brown.

8. The well of butter and sugar can be used to moisten up the rest of acorn.
