How to Apply Makeup

Longing for a flawless complexion? It's time you learned how to apply makeup. Not only will the right makeup help your skin appear flawless, but it can also bring out your eyes and make your lips look luscious. Read on to find out the basic steps for creating the perfect look every time.

• When it comes to applying makeup, often less is more. The most important makeup tip to remember: choose flattering and complimentary colors. Follow these basic steps, but don't be afraid to experiment and try new techniques.

1. Choose a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone.

2. Using your ring finger, gently dab concealer on pimples, under eye circles and other flaws.

3. Blend carefully.

1. Choose a type of foundation:
   1. Tinted moisturizer.
   2. Liquid foundation.
   3. Cream Foundation.
2. Select a shade that matches your skin tone.
3. Dot foundation on your:
   1. Forehead.
   2. Nose.
   3. Cheeks.
   4. Chin.
4. Blend outward.
   • Use a makeup sponge or your fingers.
   • Pay special attention to your jawline and hairline.

1. Smile.
2. Apply to the apple of your cheek.
3. Apply at an angle, along the cheekbone.
4. If too bright, blot gently with a tissue.

1. Choose three complimentary shades of eyeshadow.
   • A light, medium and dark shade.
2. Sweep the lightest color across your entire upper eyelid.
   • The upper lid starts at the crease and ends at the eyebrow.
3. Take the middle shade and brush it across your lower lid.
   • The lower lid starts at the crease and ends at the lash line.
4. Brush the darker shade at the outer crease of the eye and blend outward.
5. Blend by sweeping a clean brush over your closed eye.

1. Hold the eyeliner like you would hold a pencil.
2. Rest your elbow on a flat surface for stability.
3. Look up.
4. Line the lower lid below the lashes.
5. Line the upper lid above the lashes.
6. Use short strokes.
