Introduction
- When it comes to applying makeup, often less is more. The most important makeup tip to remember: choose flattering and complimentary colors. Follow these basic steps, but don't be afraid to experiment and try new techniques.
Step 2: Apply Foundation
- Choose a type of foundation:
- Tinted moisturizer.
- Liquid foundation.
- Cream Foundation.
- Select a shade that matches your skin tone.
- Dot foundation on your:
- Forehead.
- Nose.
- Cheeks.
- Chin.
- Blend outward.
- Use a makeup sponge or your fingers.
- Pay special attention to your jawline and hairline.
Step 3: Apply Blush
- Smile.
- Apply to the apple of your cheek.
- Apply at an angle, along the cheekbone.

Step 4: Apply Eyeshadow
- Choose three complimentary shades of eyeshadow.
- A light, medium and dark shade.
- Sweep the lightest color across your entire upper eyelid.
- The upper lid starts at the crease and ends at the eyebrow.
- Take the middle shade and brush it across your lower lid.
- The lower lid starts at the crease and ends at the lash line.
- Brush the darker shade at the outer crease of the eye and blend outward.
- Blend by sweeping a clean brush over your closed eye.

Step 5: Apply Eyeliner
- Hold the eyeliner like you would hold a pencil.
- Rest your elbow on a flat surface for stability.
- Look up.
- Line the lower lid below the lashes.
- Line the upper lid above the lashes.
- Use short strokes.

Step 6: Apply Mascara
- If desired, curl your lashes with an eye lash curler.
- Apply mascara in thin coats.
- Stroke from the root to the tip.

Step 7: Apply Lipstick
- Line your lips with a neutral shade.
- Apply lipstick with a lipstick brush, your finger or straight from the stick.
- Blot if necessary.
- Need shine? Dab on clear lip gloss.
