False eyelashes are a great way to add a glamorous touch to your look for a special event such as your wedding or prom. This guide provides instructions on how to apply fake eyelashes.
Many of the top models and actresses wear false eyelashes during photo shoots or when attending special events. If applied correctly, fake eyelashes will not only make your eyelashes look longer, but will also make your eyes look larger. With all the different fake eyelashes readily available, they can also put a finishing touch on your Halloween costume.
Step 1: Measure
Fake eyelashes come in standard sizes, but, since everyone has different sized eyes, your false eyelashes may not be the ideal size for you. Before you apply the false eyelashes, you may need to trim them so that they fit better. Hold the false eyelashes up to your natural lashes and compare sizes. If there is any part of the false eyelash that extends beyond your natural lash, trim it off with a sharp pair of cosmetic scissors.
Step 2: Apply Glue
- Although most tubes of eyelash glue have contoured tips, you can get more even glue coverage by applying the glue with a toothpick.
- Squeeze a bit of glue onto a spare piece of cardboard or paper
- Dip the toothpick into the glue
- Run the toothpick along the edge of the false eyelash, applying a thin, even layer
Step 3: Apply Eyelashes
- Eyelash glue is white when it is wet and turns clear as it dries. When you see that the glue has begun to change from white to clear, it is time to apply the fake eyelashes.
- Pick up the lashes with a pair of tweezers
- Line up the false eyelashes with your natural lashes
- Gently press the false eyelashes against your eyelid as close to your natural lashes as possible
- Put the tweezers down, and with two fingertips, press the corners of the fake eyelashes against your eyelid and then hold them there for a few seconds
- If you have difficulty or don't line up the lashes correctly, remove them and try again. Wait until the glue has dried, peel it from the false lashes and then apply the glue and eyelashes again.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
To make the false eyelashes look more natural, you can blend them into your natural lashes by applying a coat of mascara to both sets of lashes. If you are using colored false eyelashes, skip this step.
It may take a few tries, but adding fake eyelashes to your special event makeup routine will make you feel like a star. You may like the look so much that you'll start wearing false eyelashes every day.
