How to Add a Paypal Button to Your Website

You can start taking payments with Paypal in as little as five minutes. By signing up for a Paypal account you are given the ability to create a piece of code that you copy and paste onto your website, which will allow your customers to make payments directly into your Paypal account using either their credit card or their own Paypal account.

Learning how to add a Paypal button to your website isn't difficult since Paypal is extremely simple and intuitive to use.

There is no waiting for checks from sales hosting sites, you get your payments straight away, then depending on how you have your Paypal account set up, that money is yours to start spending immediately.

In order to use Paypal's buy button service you will need to create a Paypal account. Starting with a personal account is just fine, you can always change it to a business or premium account at a later date.https://www.paypal.com/es/cgi-bin/helpweb?cmd=_help

You then need to log into Paypal using your sign up username and password, then follow these instructions to add the Paypal button to your website.

Step 1: Navigating to the Configuration Page

Once you have logged in you will need to locate the Merchant Services tab, which is the fourth blue tab along the top of the screen.

Now click on the BuyNow button link, and you are ready to start configuring your button with your product information.

Step 2: Configuring the Buy Now Button

  1. The first tab (Step 1): Most of the information required is optional, and aside from Product Name and Price, the rest can be left as is. The only other thing to choose is the button style and this is a matter of preference.
  2. The second tab (Step 2): This section may be bypassed completely, but take a look just to familiarize yourself with it.
  3. The third tab (Step 3): This has only one field to complete and that is the URL of where you want your customer to be sent once payment has been completed. Just be careful here, it is the second grey box at the bottom of the screen, NOT the first one.
  4. Go ahead now and click "Create Button" and you will be taken to the code screen.

Step 3: How to Place the Code on Your Site

The code you will need will appear in a box below the title "Encrypted HTML code for Websites"

To copy this code you should click on the select all button, click the right mouse button and select copy, or use hold down the CTRL key and hit the C key on your keyboard at the same time. This copies the entire block of code to the clipboard.

Now go to your HTML editor and place this code in the source code of your website, at the point at which you want your Paypal button to appear. Use your editors formatting options to center the button or otherwise fine-tune its positioning.

You should now test your button by viewing your page in a web browser, clicking the buy button and checking that is does indeed go through to your Paypal address for payment.
