The story follows the Prescotts, a family who begins to migrate from the Erie Canal in the 1830's, finally settling in the West fifty years later.

  • Plot Synopsis

    How the West Was Won is a Western epic about the development of the American West from the 1830s through the Civil War to the end of the century. It is told through the four generations of the Prescott family - an Eastern family moving West - and is broken up into five segments throughout the Century.
