The Houston Zoo is located in Houston, Texas, and is ranked among the top ten zoos in the nation. The zoo sits on 55 acres of zoological gardens and houses over 4,500 animals.Zoo and Aquarium Visitor: Houston Zoo
The zoo has an aquarium that has 23 exhibits from around the world. 2010 brought a new Moon Jelly exhibit that contains about 600 gallons. Moon Jellies are from the South Pacific.
The Natural Encounters building has exhibits from seven different ecosystems and 50 different species of mammals, tropical fish, corals, birds and reptiles. The building has trees, waterfalls, pools and animals. Visitors can see animals in a unique way through large glass viewing panels and see-through tunnels. Wortham World of Primates has a natural setting that includes boardwalks and tree houses for visitors to observe the primates in a distinctive way. Animals seen here are mandrills, lemurs, gibbon, rad capped mangabeys, siamangs, patas monkeys, cotton top and golden lion tamarins, howler monkeys and Sumatran and Bornean orangutans.http://www.houstonzoo.org/Wortham/
The water park is at the McGovern Children’s Zoo. It features 11 water activities including 5 pop jet fountains and 3 foaming fountains. The water park is animal themed park and set in a Galveston coastal fishing village.http://www.houstonzoo.org/waterpark/
Some activities open to visitors are Behind the Scenes, Twilight Tour, Cat training window, Walk on the Wild Side, Breakfast with the Animals, Breakfast with Birds, Vet for a Day, Animal Painting Experience and Animal Art.

Tigers at the Houston Zoo
The Houston Zoo offers visitors an array of activities to do and over 4,500 animals to see. Some special areas of the park are the Natural Encounter, water park, carousel, Wortman World of Primates and aquarium.
