  • House M.D. aka House is an Emmy Award-winning medical drama starring Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant, but cantankerous doctor who solves dire, medical mysteries with the help of an elite team of young doctors.

On Monday September 21, the season premier of House M.D. aired on Fox kicking off season 6.

In the episode "Simple Explanations", which originally aired on April 6, 2009, Kal Penn's character Lawrence Kutner was found dead in his home with a gunshot wound to his head. Kutner's suicide shocked his co-workers, particularly Dr. House. Penn departed the show to accept a position as Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Liaison in the Obama administration.EW: House Exclusive (April 7, 2009)

    • House was created by David Shore, who also produced the show along with film director Bryan Singer. Set at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey, House's colleagues include oncologist James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), House's only friend and Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), the Dean of Medicine and hospital administrator who continually butts heads with House and his unconventional methods. For the first several seasons, House's team consisted of Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) and Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer).
    • After Foreman, Cameron and Chase also left House, or were fired, House is forced to select a new team. Season four began with 40 doctors competing for the opportunity to work with House and by the end of the season he narrowed it down to the winners, Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson), Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn) and Dr. Remy "Thirteen Hadley (Olivia Wilde). One of his rejected doctors, Dr. Amber Volakis (Anne Dudek), became Wilson's love interest.Official Site: House

  • Quotes

    • "We're both (Laurie and House) quite serious but also have childishness. He and I are eternal adolescents but with this morbid gravity. The other thing is, we both have issues with joy, insomuch as we think it's beyond us. I often picture that scene in the Woody Allen movie when he's on the train and looks into another car that's full of people laughing. They're drinking champagne; somebody has a trombone. And Woody is very much on the outside of that, looking in. I'd say that sums up my view of the world, as well as House's."—Hugh LaurieUs Magazine: Hugh Laurie (January 14, 2009)
