    Hot Cross buns are widely recognized as an Easter and Good Friday treat. The mark on the bread was a symbol of the holy cross. The bun also may have had a history before Christianity. Saxons ate the bread in honor of the goddess Eostre, the cross symbolized the four quarters of the moon. Traditional recipes use Raisins, Currants and Cinnamon. Cocoa and Chocolate are used to make a chocolate variation of the bun.
