Horst Rippert

Former German pilot Horst Rippert believes that he was responsible for shooting down author Antoine de Saint-Exupery's plane in 1944. The soon to be released book Saint-Exupery:Final Secrets has him recalling the details of how he pursued and shot down the P-38, without knowing who the pilot was. He maintains that he was a fan of Saint-Exupery's works, and was saddened when he realized what he had done. Historian Lino von Gartzen, who has been researching the Saint-Exupery disappearance, believes that Rippert's story is true.
