Horizon League Men's Basketball

The Horizon League Tournament consists of ten teams that play each other every year in the tournament. The winner of the tournament regardless of their record gets an automatic bid, or entry in the NCAA tournament. The following teams playing in the Horizon League: Butler Bulldogs, Cleveland State Vikings, Detroit Titans, Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix, Loyola Ramblers, UWM Panthers, UIC Flames, Valparaiso Crusaders, Wright State Raiders, Youngstown State Penguins. http://www.horizonleague.org/sports/m-baskbl/hori-m-baskbl-body.html

Horizon League was established on June 16, 1979. It was formed by six charter member known as Midwestern Collegiate Conference. The league expanded and Detroit joined in 1980, Cleveland State, UIC, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Wright State in 1994, Youngstown State joined in 2001 and Valparaiso in 2007. Seeding for this single elimination tournament is based upon the regular season standings. Horizon League 2009-2010 Season

Overall, Butler had the best rank within the Horizon League. Currently ranked 12th in the nation, Butler has a record of 28-4 heading into the NCAA tournament. They should prove to be a tough team to face due to their scoring ability and experience against top teams. Within the Horizon League, Butler was a perfect 18-0 and that lead to their #1 seed going into the Horizon League Tournament. It is no surprise that they ended up champions. http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=300682086 Other top teams in the conference included Wright St. who battled Butler for the Horizon League Championship. Overall, Wright St, was 20-12 and went 12-6 in the Horizon League. They were ranked second in their division. History

The six members are Butler, Loyola, University of Evansville, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts University and Xavier University. The league expanded and Detroit joined in 1980, Cleveland State, UIC, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Wright State in 1994, Youngstown State joined in 2001 and Valparaiso in 2007.

Jonathan LeCrone is been named into the position on May 11, 1982. He is the fifth commissioner of the League following Daniel DiEdwardo, James Shaffer, Cecil Coleman, and James McCafferty.

The 2007-08 season Butler Bulldogs defeat Cleveland State 70-55 in the Conference Tournament Championship. The game was held at the Indianapolis, Indiana Hinkle Fieldhouse.
