The Hopkinton State Fair is presented annually at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire. The fair is a "Labor Day tradition" and is held around the holiday each year. The first Hopkinton State Fair was held on October 5, 1915. After originally lasting for two days, the fair was expanded to three days in 1921. There were separate events at the fair that required separate admission tickets, such as a monster truck show, a demolition derby and freestyle motorcross bikes.https://hopkinton.eclipseticketing.com/public/ Adults were charged $8 for admission to the fair, senior citizens aged 60 and over were charged $7 and children from 6 to 12 years of age were admitted for $5. The fair gates were opened at 8:00 am every day. The gates closed at 11:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, September 6, the gates closed at 5:00 pm. Parking was available on the fairgrounds lot for $2 per car.http://www.hsfair.org/generalinfo.htm
95th Anniversary
The 2010 Hopkinton State Fair fair celebrated the 95th anniversary of the annual event. The traditional agricultural and entertainment event added three new performances to the line up this year. Dock Dogs, featuring canines that launch into pools of water leaping after a tossed ball or tug toy came to the fair in 2010. Another new show was the Greg Frisbee Show; an act comprised of juggling, balancing, fire and a few laughs. The third new show at the fair in was one that required special tickets for fans. The monster truck show came to the Hopkinton State Fair in 2010. The Zipper Ride at the Hopkinton State Fair
One of the carnival rides at the Hopkinton State Fair midway is the Zipper ride. The ride consists of several steel cars that swing in complete circles as the entire ride turns in large circles. The video above was shot from inside one of the ride cars and shows how the ride moves.
