The doors first opened at Hooters on October 4, 1983 in Clearwater, Florida. The next year Robert H. Brooks and a team of investors purchased expansion and franchise rights to the chain. In 2002 Brooks purchased majority control and became chairman splitting the chain in two. The two sections became Hooters of America, Incorporated, based in Atlanta, Georgia, and Hooters, Incorporated, based in Clearwater, Florida.Are they really made of buffalo?
