Homer Bailey made his professional baseball debut in 2004. While playing in the Reds' minor league system, Bailey was called one of baseball's best pitching prospects.Baseball America: 2005 Top 20 Prospects: Midwest League The Reds remained patient with calling Bailey up to the majors before he made his debut on June 8, 2007 against the Cleveland Indians. Bailey pitched five innings, giving up two runs and five hits in a Reds win.FanHouse: Homer Bailey's Debut Was OK(June 8, 2007) Bailey was sent down to AAA Louisville in July and called back up in September. Bailey began the 2008 season in AAA once again, but was called back up to the Reds starting rotation on June 5.
