Home Improvement TV Show

Categories: Entertainment | Television | Sitcoms
  • Home Improvement was an American sitcom that ran for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999. It followed the life of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor (played by Tim Allen) and his family: independent wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and their three sons, Brad (Zachary Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Taylor lives in the Detroit, Michigan area and hosts a home improvement show called Tool Time with his assistant Al Borland (Richard Karn). The show is sponsored by fictional toolmakers Binford and airs deep in cable TV (characters would sometimes reference channel 112). Taylor often seeks advice from his wise next door neighbor Wilson (Earl Hindman) who, because of the fence between their yards and other conveniently placed obstacles, is only ever seen from the nose up.

Home Improvement became very popular; it was the number one rated show in its third season, and Allen won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 1995.
