The company began in 1991 with the founding of Wallace Theater Corporation, a group of six theaters in California and Nevada. The company opened a theater in Hawaii in 1992 and continued to steadily grow. In 1999, Wallace bought Hollywood Theaters, Inc., which had operated 73 theaters housing (502) screens. The company eventually changed its name to Hollywood Theaters and focused on expanding its portfolio of stadium format theaters.
