Hollow Man is a science fiction thriller film that was inspired by The Invisible Man, the H. G. Wells novel from 1897. In the film, a team of scientists have developed a way to turn a living being completely invisible. The lead scientist, Dr. Sebastian Caine (played by Kevin Bacon), volunteers himself as a human subject on which to test the invisibility serum. Though the process is a success, the team is unable to bring Caine back to visibility. As they work on a reversal serum, Caine begins to slip into insanity and soon starts wreaking havoc on the other team members.

Special Effects
Though the film did not receive particularly positive reviews, it used state-of-the-art computer generated special effects throughout. Consequently, the movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2000. It lost to the Russell Crowe film, Gladiator. -
