• Hollow Man is a science fiction thriller film that was inspired by The Invisible Man, the H. G. Wells novel from 1897. In the film, a team of scientists have developed a way to turn a living being completely invisible. The lead scientist, Dr. Sebastian Caine (played by Kevin Bacon), volunteers himself as a human subject on which to test the invisibility serum. Though the process is a success, the team is unable to bring Caine back to visibility. As they work on a reversal serum, Caine begins to slip into insanity and soon starts wreaking havoc on the other team members.
  • Special Effects

Though the film did not receive particularly positive reviews, it used state-of-the-art computer generated special effects throughout. Consequently, the movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2000. It lost to the Russell Crowe film, Gladiator.
