HIM is a heavy metal band from Finland led by front-man Ville Valo. The other members include Mikko "Linde" Lindstrom on guitar, Mikko "Mige" Paananen on bass guitar, Janne "Burton" Puuritinen on Keyboards, and drummer Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen. The band calls their style "love metal", a mix of hard rock, gothic rock and heavy metal.
In 1994 HIM released Love Metal, which became popular within the American skateboarding community. Bam Margera began promoting the band on his show Viva La Bam and they gained a fan base in the U.S. HIM was the first Finnish band to have a gold record in the United States.
