  • On the April 7, 2008 episode of the Ellen Degeneres Show former first lady and presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton assured Ellen DeGeneres that if elected president of the United States, she would defend gay rights and ensure fairness for same-sex couples.

    When Clinton was asked how she deals with the request to discontinue her Democratic campaign, she told DeGeneres, "Why would I quit? This country is worth fighting for. I'm having a good time. I'm enjoying going out there and talking to people." Ellen DeGeneres also questioned Hillary Clinton in a live interview during a fundraiser in February 2008. DeGeneres asked the tongue-in-cheek question about the possibly of banning glitter. Clinton replied that she would ban it for people over the age of twelve. Later on the show Degeneres challenged Clinton to a "bowl off". Ellen knocked the pins down easily, but Clinton did not fair as well.

    Ellen DeGeneres is the openly gay host of the daytime television talkshow, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
