HGTV is a cable/satellite channel that offers a variety shows on home improvement, landscaping, crafts, real estate, and do it yourself. The also have the show Design Star where people in the field of interior design compete for their own HGTV show. One of those winners is David Bromstad, he now has a show on HGTV called Color Splash. In the show he goes into peoples homes and redoes one room, the people do have some input as far as what they like and don't like but the design is all David. He and his crew of painters and carpenters, etc then go in and take over with the finished product being a surprise to the home owners.

HGTV also offers the show Holmes on Homes, Mike Holmes is a contractor in Canada that helps people that have reportedly been ripped off by other contractors with alleged shotty or unfinished work and also allegedly took the home owners money and ran. During the show Mike points what problems were found and why they are problems he also gives tips on finding a trustworthy contractor.

HGTV also offers shows about landscaping, one of these is Curb Appeal - The Block. Curb Appeal is hosted by John Gidding. John and his crew travel throughout the US to homes that reportedly needs help in a big way. The home owners apply to be on the show if chosen John and at least one designer comes to the home and discusses with the owners what they would like to see.
