Hewlett-Packard Company has been in the information technology industry since it was founded in the late 1930s, was involved in the development of the first PC in 1968, and has been a leader in the personal computer manufacturing field since 1995. HP entered into a merger with Compaq in 2002, and maintained the naming rights for the Compaq brand. Today, HP is considered to be the top-selling brand of personal computers in the world.
