Hertz is a global leader in the rental car business. In addition to offering rental cars, Hertz also has divisions for renting moving trucks and vans as well as equipment, from chainsaws to backhoes. From August 2006 to November 2008, Hertz cut its workforce by 22 percent. In January 2009 it announced further cuts that would put its total workforce reduction down to 32 percent off the August 2006 numbers.
